Comments:The P3HR-1 line is a clonally derived subline of Jiyoye (ATCC CCL-87 ) which yielded up to 50-85% immunofluorescent positive cells when stained with selected human sera.
Herpes type virus particles (Epstein-Barr virus) were observed in as many as 78% of the cells examined with the electron microscope and a good correlation between presence of viral particles and immunofluorescence was obtained.
Propagation: ATCC complete growth medium: RPMI 1640 medium, 80%; heat-inactivated fetal bovine serum, 20%
Subculturing: Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Establish new cultures at 4 X 10 exp5 cells/ml and maintain at between 4 X 10 exp5 and 1 X 10 exp6 cells/ml.
Preservation: Culture medium, 95%; DMSO, 5%
