Comments:The 13762 MAT B III cell line was established at the EG&G Mason Research Institute from a transplantable rat ascites tumor derived from the 13762 solid mammary adenocarcinoma.
Prior to its deposit, the cell line was tested and found negative for the following viruses:
Pneumonia virus of mice (PVM), reovirus type 3 (Reo3), K virus, polyomavirus, Sendai virus, GDVII (mouse poliovirus), Kilham rat virus (KRV), minute virus of mice (MVM), SV5, H-1 virus and ectromelia virus.
The line grows as small clusters of rounded cells lightly attached to the substrate, or as a static suspension.
Propagation: ATCC complete growth medium: The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated McCoy's 5a Medium Modified, Catalog No. 30-2007. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.
Temperature: 37.0°C
Subculturing: Protocol: Cultures are maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start new cultures at 1 X 10 exp5 viable cells/ml and maintain at 1 X 10 exp5/ml and 1 X 10 exp6 cells/ml.
Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
Preservation: Freeze medium: Complete growth medium 95%; DMSO, 5%
Storage temperature: liquid nitrogen vapor phase
