Comments:This line was derived from S49.1 (ATCC TIB-28 ) by selecting for resistance to 10 mM thymidine and 0.1 mM 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine.
Like the parent line, the cells are sensitive to 0.001 mM cortisol (hydrocortisone), 5 mcg/ml phytohemagglutinin and 0.01 mM 6-thioguanine.
Tested and found negative for ectromelia virus (mousepox).
Propagation: ATCC complete growth medium: Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium, 90%; horse serum, 10%
Subculturing: Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start cultures at 2 X 10 exp5 cells/ml and maintain between 1 X 10 exp5 and 1 X 10 exp6 cells/ml.
