Comments:Animals were immunized with neuroblastoma cells (LAN-1).
Spleen cells were fused with P3X63Ag8 myeloma cells.
Ganglioside GD2 is strongly expressed on cells of tumors of neuroectodermal origin (especially neuroblastoma and melanoma cells).
The antibody reacts strongly with neuroblastoma and melanoma cells, but does not react with lymphomas, sarcomas and most carcinomas.
Faint reactivity was reported for small cell carcinomas, adenocarcinomas of the adrenal cortex, gliomas and normal neural and muscle tissue.
Propagation: ATCC complete growth medium: The base medium for this cell line is ATCC-formulated Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium, Catalog No. 30-2002. To make the complete growth medium, add the following components to the base medium: fetal bovine serum to a final concentration of 10%.
Subculturing: Medium Renewal: Every 2 to 3 days
Cultures can be maintained by addition or replacement of fresh medium. Start cultures at 2 X 10 exp5 cells/ml and maintain between 1 X 10 exp5 and 1 X 10 exp6 cells/ml.
