The cells do not synthesize detectable amounts of the CD45 glycoprotein and do not express this molecule on the cell surface.
They are also negative for the CD45, T200, and Lea antigens.
The cells are resistant to 0.1 mM 6-thioguanine and 1 mM ouabain.
Propagation: ATCC complete growth medium: Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium with 4 mM L-glutamine adjusted to contain 1.5 g/L sodium bicarbonate and 4.5 g/L glucose, 90%; heat-inactivated horse serum, 10%

Subculturing: Protocol: Cultures can be maintained by the addition of fresh medium or replacement of medium. Alternatively, cultures can be established by centrifugation with subsequent resuspension at 5 to 8 X 10(4) viable cells/ml. Maintain cell density between 5 X 10(4) and 1 X 10(6) viable cells/ml. Do not exceed 5 X 10(5) cells/ml.
