ATCC medium: 902 Schuster's axenic Naegleria medium

5% Liver Desiccate (Oxoid L26)......... 100.0 ml
Na2HPO4 (0.05 M) ........................ 60.0 ml
KH2PO4 (0.05 M) ......................... 40.0 ml

Prepare Liver Desiccate stock in distilled water, filter or centrifuge at high speed to remove sediment, and autoclave. Add filtered Liver Desiccate to the medium at the time of preparation, and autoclave the completed medium. The Liver Desiccate may continue to settle from solution, but this will not affect growth of the ameba. Filter and autoclave at 121C for 15 minutes. Add 10% heat-inactivated fetal bovine serum just before use.
