Incubation : Temperature: 35.5°C Duration: 4-7 days at 35.5C
Effect : Yes, in vitro effects: Cytopathic effects in tissue culture Yes, tumorigenicity: causes tumor at the site of inoculation
Comments : Inoculation of virus i.d. or i.t. results in viral proliferation and localized benign tumors. Generalization of infection does not occur, and tumors regress after a few weeks. The infected animals become resistant to myxoma virus. Inactivation of virus occurs rapidly at 4C.
