Handling procedure
1. Open vial according to enclosed instructions.
2. From a single tube of #44 broth (5 to 6 ml), withdraw approximately 0.5 to 1.0 ml with a Pasteur or 1.0 ml pipette and use to rehydrate the entire pellet.
3. Aseptically transfer the rehydrated pellet back into the broth tube. Mix well.
4. Use several drops of this suspension to inoculate an additional broth tube, a #44 agar slant and/or a plate.
5. Incubate the tubes and plate at 26°C for 24 to 48 hours.
Handling notes
The subspecies name Yersinia enterocolitica subsp. enterocolitica (Schleifstein and Coleman 1939) Frederiksen 1964 is automatically created by the valid publication of Yersinia enterocolitica subsp. palearctica Neubauer et al. 2000 [Rule 40d (formerly Rule 46)].
Two colony types may be observed on #44 agar.
